The G Hotel Gurney and G Hotel Kelawai in Penang have both been awarded a total of 9 awards recently, from various international travel portals and even from the distinguished Malaysian Institute of Architects (Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia), in the "Sports and Recreation" category garnering the PAM Silver Award, for 2017, going to G Hotel Kelawai, the newer of the two sister hotels.

Both hotels were awarded the certificate of "Loved by Guests Award 2017" by accommodation website Hotels.com, thanks to high ratings by guests and reviews on the website. The hotels are often given high marks for cleanliness, facilities and room comfort, and especially for location, seeing as how both are located in between two main shopping malls, namely Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon, and right next to Gurney Drive, where you can enjoy super-scrumptious pasemboq (or pasembor – a seafood salad served with peanut sauce and a sing-and-dance if you’re lucky) with grilled squid, giant prawns and deep-fried crab (goes for about RM20-30 per plate if you take one of each, but oh-so-filling and actually enough for two), and other yummy Penang dishes including char kuey teow, curry mee, assam laksa and cendol. Oh Em Gee talking about food made me lost the plot! Hahaha sorry! LOL!

Moving on, another award garnered by the hotels is the Recommended by HolidayCheck for 2017, the website being the largest German-language hotel review and travel website. The two hotels were also awarded the 2017 TripAdvisor Certification of Excellence Awards, as well as winning the Ctrip.com award for the third year running as a Chinese-Preferred Hotel 2017, which gives acknowledgment to five-star hotels that are accommodating towards tourists from China, for providing facilities and conveniences such as free Wi-Fi, Chinese-style breakfast, Chinese translation services and in-room amenities.

Overall, the two hotels have won over 100 awards between them since both were established, including Best Hotel Interior from the Asia Pacific Hotel Awards, Best City Hotel Malaysia from the World Luxury Hotel Awards and the Gold Award for Hospitality Design from the I-DEA Design Excellence Awards.
